BODIPY® FL vancomycin, which contains a single BODIPY® dye per vancoymycin molecule, is a green-fluorescent analog of this important antibiotic, which is active against gram-positive bacteria, including entereococci. Although its biological activity has not been reported, it may be useful for detecting vancomycin binding sites and transport, for fluorescence polarization assays, and for the study and detection of vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
