Osteoprotegerin (OPG)/osteoclastogenesis inhibitory factor (OCIF) is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily and is now referred to as TNFRSF11B. It is an osteoblast secreted decoy receptor that binds specifically to osteoprotegrin ligand (OPGL/TNFSF11) to inhibit osteoblast maturation. It is also a decoy receptor for TRAIL and inhibits TRAIL-induced apoptosis. Human and mouse OPG share approximately 84% and 94% amino acid sequence identity, respectively, with rat OPG. Natural OPG exists predominantly as disulfide-linked dimers.

Product Summary:

The Quantikine Mouse OPG Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid phase ELISA designed to measure mouse OPG in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma. It contains NS0-expressed recombinant mouse OPG and antibodies raised against the recombinant factor. This immunoassay has been shown to quantitate recombinant mouse OPG accurately. Results obtained using natural mouse OPG showed dose response curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtained using the Quantikine kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for natural mouse OPG.

The recovery of mouse OPG spiked to three levels throughout the range of the assay in various matrices was evaluated.
