Ras-related protein Rab-25 (Rab25) is a GTP-binding protein belonging to the Rab family of proteins. Rab25 has observed expression in kidney, lung and gastrointestinal mucosa, appearing to be exclusively expressed within epithelial cells. This specific expression has led to the implication that Rab25 has a role as a regulator for vesicular transport associated with epithelia. Rab25 is potentially a selective regulator for transcytotic pathways and apical recycling. Several recent studies have indicated an observable loss of Rab25 in breast cancer tissue and cell lines, and have suggested a potential role for Rab25 as a regulator for Ras induced tumorigenesis.
