Interferon alpha/beta receptor 1 (IFNAR-1) is a single-pass type I membrane protein containing three fibronectin type-III domains and is a member of the type II cytokine receptor family. IFNAR-1 serves as an interferon receptor specific to interferons alpha and beta, a family of type I interferons critical to the promotion and the linking of adaptive and innate immune response. Type I interferons all bind to a heterodimeric receptor composed of two subunits, IFNAR-1 and IFNAR-2. The binding of the type I IFNs initializes tyrosine phosphorylation for several proteins such as; IFNR alpha/beta subunits, JAKs, STAT, and TYK2 proteins.

Specificity
This antibody recognizes the extracellular domain of IFNAR-1.
FUNCTION: Receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding to type I IFNs triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of a number of proteins including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins and IFNR alpha- and beta-subunits themselves.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the type II cytokine receptor family.
Contains 3 fibronectin type-III domains.
