CD31, also known as platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 (PECAM1) is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein, and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors. PECAM-1 is constitutively expressed on the surface of endothelial cells where it is concentrated at cell junctions. PECAM-1 is also expressed at low levels on all leukocytes and platelets. Homotypic interaction of CD31 is important in cell-cell interaction, cell-matrix interaction and signal transduction.

Please note that this product will not be available for sale after March 15, 2015. Please select one of the other antibodies against this target. Anti-PECAM-1 [CD31] Antibody, clone EP3095, Rabbit detects level of PECAM-1 [CD31] & has been published & validated for use in WB, IH(P), FC.
Key Applications
Flow Cytometry
Western Blotting
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Application Notes
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: 1:250 - 500 dilution from a previous lot detected PECAM1 in human uterus and tonsil tissue.
Flow Cytometry: 1:70 dilution from a previous lot was used on FC.
Biological Information
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues on human PECAM-1.
FUNCTION:This protein is a cell adhesion molecule expressed on platelets and at endothelial cell intercellular junctions.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION:Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY:Long isoform predominates all tissues examined, isoform Delta12 was detected only in trachea and isoform Delta14-15 only in lung, isoform Delta14 was detected in all tissues examined with the strongest expression in heart.
PTM:Phosphorylated on Ser and Tyr residues after cellular activation.
Evaluated by Western Blot on THP-1 and Jurkat cell lysates.
Western Blot Analysis: 1:5,000 - 20,000 dilution of this antibody was used to detect PECAM1 in THP-1 and Jurkat cell lysates.
Usage Statement
Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Storage and Shipping Information
Storage Conditions
Stable for 1 year at -20ºC from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerolcontaining solutions to become frozen during storage.
