描述：

Contactin (Gp135), the human homologue of chicken F11 and mouse F3 proteins, is a neuronal cell adhesion protein of the Ig superfamily.

The contactin gene encodes two diferent isoforms: Contactin 1 (1018 amino acids; 998 aa after signal sequence cleavage) and Contactin 2

which lacks the first 11 amino acids of the mature Contactin 1 protein. Contactin is spatially expressed and has been implicated in guiding

axons in developing embryos. As is typical of an Ig-type protein, the extracellular region of contactin contains six Ig domains followed by four

FNIII (fibronectin type III) repeats. Contactin is released from membranes after treatment with a PI-PLC phospholipase, indicating that the

membrane attachment of contactin is through GPI.
