描述：

The caveolins are a family of transmembrane proteins that are required for the structural integrity and functions of non-clathrin membrane
invaginations (caveolae) on the inner surface of the plasma membrane. The intracellular functions of caveolae include roles in cholesterol
homeostasis, signal transduction, and vesicle transport. Caveolins 1 and 2 form hetero-oligomers in the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex and
trans-Golgi-derived transport vesicles in most tissues. The highest levels of these complexes are found in adipocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial,
epithelial, and smooth muscle cells. Upon phosphorylation at tyrosine 19 or 27, caveolin 2 dissociates from caveolin 1, and the two
phosphorylated forms of caveolin 2 localize to distinct areas of the cell. There are reports that internalization of caveolae may be regulated by
tyrosine phosphorylation of caveolin 2.
