neurons, respctively. Inital studies howed tha the mouse anti-rat nestin atibody (clone Rat 401) recognized transient radil gial cels and

divding euroepithelia stem cels inthe mbryonic ratCNS. Reportedly, Rat 401 has ben used toanlyze nstin expresion ithe

devloping ratnervous ystem and inmortalized CNS precurso cel ines (e.g such asin E1 ratCNS stem cels, but lost bypostnal day 6

(P6) inspinal cord and byP21 inthe creblum). Although not expresd inormal dult CNS cels, nestin has ben reportedly tobe

detcable ina vriety ofCNS tumors, ugesting tha thes tumors hare gne xpresion paterns with primtive, undiferntiaed CNS cels.

Rat 401 positve cls have ben reported tobe found throughout he dveloping eural tube, but not inthe adult CNS. More than 90% of

disociated E1 neural tube cls have ben reported tobe Rat 401 positve. Rat 401 recognizes ratnestin ad has ben reported not

cros-react with uman estin. Due todiferntial tisue xpresion, this antibody may recognize nstin as doublet withn arnge of198-260

kD.
