Clone B-ly4 reacts with e 145 kDa glycosylated type Iintegral mebrane protein. CD21 isa recptor for the C3d complemnt fragment and

for Epstein-Bar virus (EBV), expresd onmature Bcels, folicular dendritc els, and some pithelia cels. Itis alo weakly expresd on

the subet ofmature Tcels and thymocytes. CD21 plays arole inB-cel activation ad proliferation. Itmay lso play role inmodulating the

function fT cels inthe imune rsponse toinfections bylmphotrpic viruse. Recntly, CD21 was found tobe part ofa lrge complex

containg CD19, CD81, and posibly other molecules.
