AHP968 recognises the N-terminal region of Akt1, a 48kDa protein kinase forming part of the PI3K-Akt signalling pathway, known to regulate cell growth, proliferation and survival. The PI3K-Akt1 pathway is negatively regulated by the tumour suppressor PTEN.
Excessive Akt1 activation can lead to the formation of malignant tumours, and has been associated with prostate cancer progression.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP968 detects a band of approximately 48 kDa in human liver cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human Akt1 (NT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
