AHP791 is specific for human Oncostatin M (OSM), a 209 amino acid pleiotropic cytokine, originally isolated from PMA (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate) treated U937 leukaemia cells and mitogen-activated T lymphocytes.
OSM was identified by the ability to inhibit the replication of various human tumour cell lines, but has also been shown to exert a stimulatory effect on fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and Kaposi's sarcoma cells, and to induce the release of certain cytokines by endothelial cells. OSM signals through binding with low affinity to the gp130 protein present in two cell surface receptors: type I consisting of gp130 and LIFR (leucocyte inhibitory factor receptor) which also acts as a receptor for LIF, and type II consisting of gp130 and OSMR, which mediates OSM specific activities.

This product requires enzyme mediated antigen retrieval prior to staining of parrafin sections. Proteinase K is recomended for this purpose.
Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at +4oC.
After reconstitution store at -20oC.
This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
12 months from date of reconstitution.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human Oncostatin M were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
