AHP2137 specifically recognises human Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), otherwise known as Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), a secreted glycoprotein and member of the Lipocalin family, which is highly expressed in the bone marrow, lungs, stomach, liver and adipose tissue, and is implicated in innate immunity and apoptosis.
LCN2 acts as a protein transporter, through the binding of small lipophilic substances in the hydrophobic core. Expression of LCN2 is up-regulated during inflammation, and plays an important role in the innate immune response, by binding to bacterial iron-containing siderophores, limiting bacterial growth.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP2137 detects a band of approximately 22kDa in kidney cell lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human LCN2 was raised by repeated immunisation of with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
