AHP1829 specifically recognises human Elongin B (EloB), otherwise known as transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 2, a general transcription elongation factor, which stimulates RNA polymerase II transcription elongation beyond template-encoded arresting sites.
Elongin exists as a heterotrimer consisting of an A (A1, A2 or A3), B and C subunit. Subunit A is transcriptionally active, with activity strongly enhanced by binding to the dimeric complex of the elongin regulatory subunits B and C (elongin BC complex), which is mediated by subunit C.
