AHP1648 recognises human Precerebellin also known as Cerebellin-1, CBLN1 or Cerebellin precursor, a secreted membrane protein with a predicted molecular weight of 21kDa.
Precerebellin is required for synapse integrity and synaptic plasticity and for the ER export and secretion of CBLN3. Precerebellin exerts neuromodulatory functions including directly stimulating norepinephrine release via the adenylate cyclase/PKA-dependent signaling pathway; and indirectly enhances adrenocortical secretion in vivo, through a paracrine mechanism involving medullary catecholamine release. Research indicates that Precerebellin may also be involved in a wider range of functions than have been so far demonstrated.
