AHP1549 recognises rat metabotropic glutamate receptor 2 and 3 (mGluR2 and mGluR3). The metabotropic glutamate receptors have been organised into three groups, mGluR2 and mGluR3 make up group II, and are negatively coupled to adenylate cyclase. Group II mGluRs act to inhibit neurotransmitter release as autoreceptors on glutamatergic terminals and as presynaptic heteroreceptors, performing a variety of functions in the central and peripheral nervous system. Studies have shown that mGluRs play an important role in neuroplasticity and group II mGluRs are targeted by various drugs used for treating anxiety, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia and drug addiction.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1549 detects bands of approximately 110kDa (monomer) and 220kDa (dimer) in rat hippocampal lysates.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to metabotropic glutamate receptor 2/3 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
