AHP1300 specifically recognises the 102kDa transmembrane gamma-aminobutyric acid B (GABAB) receptor 1 (GABR1), when phosphorylated at Ser923.
GABABreceptors are heterodimeric G-protein coupled receptors which are important mediators of slow neuronal inhibition in the mammalian central nervous system. The functional expression of GABABreceptors on plasma membranes is dependent upon the co-expression of GABR1 and GABR2 (gamma-aminobutyric acid B (GABAB) receptor 2). Phosphorylation of GABR1 at the Ser923 site may be an important factor in the regulation of GABABreceptor function.
Abnormalities in the expression or function of GABABreceptors have become a focus area in studies of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).

For the detection of phosphoproteins, tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors such as 1mM Sodium Orthovanadate should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background.

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

Antisera to GABABreceptor 1 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
