AHP1174 detects an epitope within the N-terminal (NT) domain of human interleukin-23 (IL-23), a 21kD heterodimeric cytokine structurally related to IL-12. IL-23 is composed of a p19 subunit encoded by the IL23A gene, and a p40 subunit of interleukin-12 (IL12B). IL-23 is expressed mainly by activated macrophages and dendritic cells, and plays an important role in bridging innate and adaptive responses.
IL-23 activates a subset of T cells called Th17 cells, which are characterised by the production of interleukin-17. The IL-23/IL-17 pathway is essential for the induction and maintenance of brain and joint inflammatory autoimmune diseases, including Guillain Barre Syndrome, Multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1174 detects a band of approximately 24kDa in mouse pancreas tissue lysate.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human IL-23 (NT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
