AHP1106 detects an epitope within the internal region of Focal adhesion kinase (FAK), a 125kD cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinase that is activated by numerous stimuli and controls cell motility, proliferation and apoptosis. FAK resides at focal adhesions that form between cells growing in the presence of extracellular matrix constituents.
FAK plays a potential role in oncogenic transformation, and its expression is thought to be correlated to tumour invasiveness.

This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
