AHP1100 recognises an epitope within the internal region of human PAI-1, a 45kD serine protease inhibitor which is the principle inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and urokinase (uPA). Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 is also known as Serpine1, and due to its inhibitor function of tPA and uPA, is an inhibitor of fibrinolysis.
PAI-1 is present at increased levels in various disease states, and has been linked to an increased occurrence of thrombosis in obesity and the metabolic syndrome. Defects in serpine1 are characterized by abnormal bleeding.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1100 detects a band of approximately 45kDa in human duodenum, liver and lung lysates. A minimum incubation time of 1 hour is recommended with this antibody.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
This product should be stored undiluted.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human PAI-1 were raised by repeated immunisations of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
