AHP1096 detects an epitope corresponding to 429-442aa of human LXR (liver X receptor) alpha and to 443-456aa of human LXR beta. LXR alpha and beta are members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors, and each have a molecular weight of 55kD.
LXR alpha and beta are sterol-responsive with the ability to directly bind several oxysterol metabolites. Many LXR target genes have been identified that implicate these receptors in a variety of physiological processes including cholesterol transport and metabolism, glucose metabolism, and inflammation.

Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP1096 detects a band of approximately 55kDa in human spleen lysates. A minimum incubation time of 1 hour is recommended with this antibody.
* Additional minor bands of 38 and 75kD may also be present, these are blocked by pre-incubation of the antibody with the immunising peptide.
Storage
Store at +4oC or at -20oC if preferred.
This product should be stored undiluted.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life
18 months from date of despatch.
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human LXR Alpha/Beta were raised by repeated immunisations of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
