RABBIT ANTI HUMAN PROTEIN GENE PRODUCT 9.5

7863-0504 specifically stains protein gene product 9.5 (PGP 9.5), a 27kDa ubiquitin-protein hydrolase, expressed in the cytoplasm of neurons and cells of the diffuse neuroendocrine system and related tumors. 

PGP 9.5 hydrolyses a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of the proteolysis tagging protein ubiquitin, thereby generating/recycling ubiquitin monomers, essential in the ubiquitin-proteasome cytoplasmic protein degradation system. PGP 9.5 is a focus area for neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and has been linked with tumor invasion and progression.

This product does not require antigen retrieval prior to staining of paraffin sections, but heat treatment may enhance staining. Sodium citrate buffer pH6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
