M. pneumoniaeis exclusively a human pathogen, and primarily attaches to mucosa in the upper and lower respiratory tract. It is transmitted by respiratory droplets, and infection can cause bronchial asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.
Central nervous system (CNS) manifestations are the most frequent extrapulmonary complications, and include encephalitis, aseptic meningitis, cerebellar ataxia, and myelitis.
6400-2227 has not been cross absorbed and may react with related microorganisms.
