5980-1410 recognises MMP14, also known as MT1-MMP, a metalloproteinase involved in the cleavage of type 1 collagen fibres at the cell surface, requiring homodimerisation of MMP-14 via the hemopexin domain. MMP14 is the only membrane anchored collagenase. Besides cleaving collagens types I, II and III, MMP14 also degrades a range of extracellular macromolecules including aggrecan, vitronectin, fibronectin and laminins 1 and 5.
