Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is, when biologically active, a heterodimer (p70) consisting of two covalently linked subunits, p35 and p40. The p40 subunit is shared with IL-23. IL-12 is produced by antigen-presenting cells, specifically dendritic cells and macrophages. IL-12 is a proinflammatory cytokine that promotes TH1-type responses by inducing IFN-γ production and enhancing proliferation and cytotoxicity of NK and T cells.
Rat monoclonal antibody specific for the p40 subunit of mouse IL-12 and IL-23. The antibody recognizes p40 monomer, p40 homodimer, IL-12 p70 heterodimer (p40+p35) and IL-23 heterodimer (p40+p19).
Suitable as capture antibody in ELISA and ELISpot. When used in combination with biotinylated mAb clone IL12-IV (code 3456-6), the antibody detects the IL-12 p70 heterodimer (p40+p35).
mAb C17.8. is also available as biotinylated (code 3451-6) for detection of IL-12/-23 (p40) in combination with capture mAb C15.6 (code 3451-3).
