1717-0909 recognizes the 60 kDa mammalian Calcineurin catalytic subunit.
Calcineurin is a calmodulin binding protein found in the brain that exists as heterodimer composed of a calmodulin-binding, catalytic alpha-subunit and a calcium-binding beta-subunit. It plays a role in the immune response by activating the the transcription of interleukin 2 and is a target for immunosuppressive drugs such as cyclosporin.
