Description: This ID12 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse PIM-2, a member of a family of serine/threonine kinases. In the mouse, Pim-2 exists as three isoforms (34-, 38-, and 40-kDa) due to alternative translation initiation. Pim-2 is expressed in hematopoietic cells and overexpressed in prostate cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma. Regulated transcriptionally by the JAK/STAT pathway, Pim-2 is induced by IL-2 and IL-3. This kinase plays a role in cell survival by inhibiting the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family member Bad via phosphorylation and by blocking caspase-3 activation. Expression of Pim-2 has also been shown to confer rapamycin resistance in T lymphocytes.
