Description: This HMJ2-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Jagged-2, one of five type I transmembrane proteins that serves as a Notch receptor ligand. Upon binding the Notch receptor (e.g., Notch 1-4), Jagged-2 undergoes proteolytic cleavage, first by ADAM-family metalloproteases and then by gamma-secretase. The second cleavage event releases an intracellular fragment whose biological function remains controversial. Jagged-2 is expressed by thymic lymphoid and stromal cells, as well as macrophages and dendritic cells in the spleen.
Note: Staining of endogenous splenic dendritic (CD8+CD11c+) cells could only be consistently confirmed in cells isolated from C57BL/6, but not Balb/c, mice. Other strains have not been tested. The antiobdy has been reported to crossreact to rat and have blocking function.
